The Minister Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Darius Dickson Ishaku recently paid an unscheduled working visit to the Vice Chancellor Federal University Otuoke, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko in his office.
Mr. Darius Ishaku who was on an inspection tour of the skills acquisition centre under construction in Otuoke said, he decided to stop briefly and visit the University administrator.
Prof. Mobolaji Aluko thanked him for the gesture and regretted that the supervising Minister could not go round to see the facilities of the University, urging him to visit again soonest so that they will have ample time to host him.
On matters concerning the skill acquisition centre, Prof. Aluko inquired about the Ministry’s resolve on consultancy. “We are still interested in consultancy and want to know what the scheduled is” he said.
In his response the Minister assured that only credible consultants will be given the right to manage the skill acquisition centre in Otuoke.
“We want to be as unbiased as possible and we want to take credible people that can sustain the place over a long period “, the Minister said.
He further disclosed that the centre which will be managed with the least Government interference, is expected to be commissionedtentatively in June 2014.
FUO is hoping that it gets the approval to partner with the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in making the mission and vision of the centre actualized.
