Management of Federal University Otuoke has once more demonstrated its desire to make the Institution a model in the country with its move to ensure World class standard practice in store management.
This follows its resolve to expand the Institutions store to put in place every necessary facility to make stock taking and keeping more efficient as disclosed by the Head, Store Unit, FUO: Ms Itoko Gloria during a chat with FUO media team while inspecting work at the Store extension on, 3rd June, 2014.
She also mentioned that the Store Unit intends to work in line with Management’s desire to streamline store procedures which demands usage of different books, ledgers and journals, for proper record keeping.
“Management has now availed us different books, ledgers and journals so anything that comes in or goes out is documented. At a glance we can tell you what we have in the Store, this is the standard practice” she said.
The Store Keeper further revealed that the ongoing expansion of the Store which has reached 75 percent completion and is expected to be finished in about two weeks time will enhance easy movement, stock taking and keeping within the store. Adding that with the Beam Cards, stock taking which was usually done in three months will not be prolonged anymore as it can be done daily or weekly.
In her words “with this development we will not wait until three months to take our Stock, it will now be daily or even weekly”.
While thanking Management for the support, Ms Gloria Itoko appealed that provision be made for a standard store in the proposed permanent site of the University for continuity.
“We say a big thank you to Management for supporting us and making our work easier we want provision to be made for a standard store in the permanent site so that the practice will be maintained” she concluded.
