The Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has expressed satisfaction with the level of facilities at the new Federal University Otuoke.
Mallam Shekarau said this while on an assessment tour of facilities at the University Monday 8th December, 2014 at Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The Education Minister noted that the assessment tour was necessary for the Ministry to actualize President Jonathan’s transformation agenda of improving quality and increasing access to education in the country.
“We are in the field to see things ourselves than rely on paper reports”, he said.
Expressing the commitment of all stakeholders in the Education sector to move forward, Mallam Shekarau commended management of Federal University Otuoke for their efforts to build a world class University.
In an interview with journalists, the Vice Chancellor Federal University Otuoke, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko said the visit of the Minister and his entourage has raised hopes of more good things to come to the Institutions.
Admitting that the new University has enjoyed interventions from TETFUND, the Vice Chancellor pleaded for speedy development of the structures before the next rainy
According to the VC, every University is made up of staff, facilities, infrastructures and curriculum, and so as the population increases, the need for more hostels become expedient, we therefore request for more hostels for students.
The Minister who was on the visit with the Executive Secretary, TETFUND, Prof. Elias E. Bogoro first paid a courtesy visit to the Bayelsa State governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson before proceeding on inspection tour of facilities at Federal University Otuoke.
