In a bid to ensure that Security Staffs of Federal University Otuoke are knowledgeable and well trained in matters concerning protection of lives and property, the Security Unit recently carried out an intensive training for 178 applicants.
Chief Security Officer FUO, Mr. Pade Ben-Oputa made this known during a chat with the FUO Media after the training exercise.
Mr. Ben Oputa said the essence of the two-month training which covers Written, Drilling and Physical Endurance Test is to ensure that trainees when employed will be knowledgeable on security matters as it concerns the University.
The Chief Security Officer further stated that only 59 out of 178 trainees were shortlisted after the written test out of which 30 were finally recommended for employment as security staff adding that the training was in two categories; Civilians and Ex-service men.
Commenting on the exercise the CSO said he is satisfied with their performance expressing optimism that the trainees will give their optimum when employed.
He further emphasized on the need for re-training as a continuous exercise in the Unit while commending Management for availing them with an enabling environment to work including the provision of security gadgets like walkie -talkies and battons.
Mr. Oputa concluded by urging Management to provide the Unit with a patrol vehicle to step-up their patrol activities within the University.
