“We are impressed with your activities in areas of Skills Acquisition, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Human Capacity Building, we will sensitize our people so that they maximize these opportunities you are availing us.”
These were the words of the Chairman, Ogbia Local Government Area, Honourable Enaye, Sisami Abah when FUO Team led by Head, Institutional Advancement Unit, Dr. Sepribo Lawson-Jack paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Ogbia Local Government Council.
Describing the meeting as long overdue, Honourable Enaye commended FUO for identifying with the Council citing the gesture as a welcomed development and disclosed that his Team were preparing to visit the University.
The Council Chairman solicited for collaboration in areas of Employment, Admission, Capacity building and Security.
“The area of employment is very important, we know the benefits of good education and we will be happy if you support us in these areas not forgetting Security, we use these medium to guarantee your security since you are in our domain” he said.
While thanking FUO delegation for the visit, he concluded by promising to visit the University soonest expressing optimism that the visit is the beginning of a good relationship.
In his words, “We appreciate your coming, we had a wonderful deliberation with you, we will make an arrangement on how to visit you soonest and hope that this begins a good relationship”.
Earlier in his remark, Head, Office of Institutional Advancement, FUO, Dr. Sepribo Lawson-Jack thanked the Council Chairman and his Team for granting them audience.
Dr. Lawson-Jack said the purpose of the visit is to introduce FUO formally to the Chairman, implore him to see the Institution as its responsibility since we are in Ogbia territory and look for areas of collaboration with the Local Government Council to impact the University’s presence.
“We feel it is important to introduce the University to your Team since we are in your domain, we want you to see us as your citizens, most importantly we want Ogbia Communities to explore our ICT facilities and Entrepreneurial and Skills Development activities and look for other areas we can collaborate.” He said.
The Head, Office of Institutional Advancement also briefed the host with facts about the University and expressed the willingness of FUO Management to contribute to the well being of Ogbia people.
Also speaking at the occasion was the Secretary of Ogbia Council, Chief Ezeke Joseph Joshua who reiterated the importance of the visit to the council commending the University for extending a hand of partnership.
High point of the visit was the presentation of souvenirs to the Council Chairman from the University by Head, Media and Public Relations Unit, Ms. Mercy Ekott.
Others present at the occasion include: The Press Secretary to the Chairman, Mr. Michael Jonathan, Treasurer to the Council, HRH, Paul Ariwareni, Head of Administration, Mr. Carter Warri and Special Adviser to the Chairman on Security, Hon. Apigi Ipehson.
