The Vice Chancellor Federal University Otuoke, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko has described the United Bank for Africa, UBA as a trail blazer being the first financial institution that has opened business in Ogbia Council area, Bayelsa State.
Prof. Aluko said this at the official commissioning of UBA, Federal University Otuoke branch, Tuesday 11th March, 2015 at the West Campus of the University.
The VC noted that the establishment of the bank will boost economic activities in Ogbia Kingdom adding that the presence of the bank will save students and staff the stress of going to Yenagoa the state capital for banking transactions.
He however, congratulated UBA for being the first financial institution that answered the clarion call of the University by establishing a branch on Campus noting that plans are ongoing to have more banks in the University.
Speaking at the occasion, the regional Head, United Bank for Africa, Ndubuisi Ogu said the bank is poised to create an enabling environment to serve its customers in FUO and environs.
Saying that it is a new era of service in this part of Bayelsa State, Mr. Ogu assured customers in the University of the Bank’s Determination to serve them better.
“UBA is out to offer you a service different from what is obtainable outside because of the peculiar nature of this environment” he assured.
Thanking the University management for the support, the UBA boss reiterated the bank’s commitment to a good business relationship with the University.
In his goodwill message, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Steve Nwabuzor commended UBA for being the first bank to establish a branch in the new University, he urged the University community to effectively utilize it.
On his part, a student of Political Science, Enyim Samuel who spoke on behalf of the students commended the University Management for easing their stress.
The Registrar, Mr. David Suowari in his vote of thanks expressed appreciation to UBA for willingly establishing a branch at FUO commending also the bank’s marketing strategy in reaching out to the rural populace.
Among dignitaries who graced the occasion were: the Paramount ruler of Otuoke, HRH Lot Ogiasa, Oke xi. The University Bursar, Ms. Atonbra Ombu, Chief Librarian, Hundron Kari and others.
