Students of Federal University Otuoke are taking practical steps to hone their inner talents and tailor it to suit Entrepreneurial Development.
It was therefore a showcase of talents when the Skills Acquisition Centre and Entrepreneurship Centre – Otuoke (SAECO), in collaboration with a student group known as “Sustaining Personal Excellence and Entrepreneurial Development (SPEED) held a seminar on Wednesday 17th June, 2015.
With the theme: Soon you’ll have a degree, what next? The seminar was an entrepreneurial awareness campaign organized by FUO students.
Declaring the seminar open, the Acting Director of SAECO and Head Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Unit (ESDU) Dr. Samuel Ebie, congratulated the students for having the foresight to organize the seminar.
According to him, it will go a long way in helping them discover other inherent skills in them aside from areas of their academic discipline.
Dr. Sam Ebie, who is also a mentor to the young aspiring entrepreneurs, congratulated all students of FUO who were able to attend the Annual National Entrepreneurship Week (ANEW) in Abuja.
During his presentation, Dr. Ebie spoke on problems facing young graduates which he said can be solved with skills acquisition and self employment.
Other speakers at the event were, Dean, Student Life, Dr. Marcellina Ofoha, the Public Relations Officer FUO, Ms. Mercy Ekott, coordinator Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, Dr. Francis Oluleye and Dr. Ituka Donald from Civil and Environmental Engineering Department.
They advised participants to make their mark while in the University and strive towards developing their unique talents for entrepreneurship purposes.
The awareness seminar featured various student activities which included; Art Presentation, Quiz, Career talks, Showcase of ICT innovations by SPEED etc.
The programme witnessed an impressive turn-out of students.
