In an effort to produce employable and entrepreneurial graduates, the Department of Chemical Sciences Federal University Otuoke says field trips are essential for students to gain practical knowledge in their area of study.
This was the position of the Head of Department, Chemical Sciences, Dr. Iheoma Adekunle as she took students of her Department on an excursion to PABOD Breweries Limited, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Dr. Adekunle noted that the trip will expose the students to the practical experiences of Brewery Science which is a part of Industrial Chemistry.
The Head of Department said the outing will afford the students the opportunity to understand various production stages in the Brewery Industry stating that it will help them develop more interest in “Brewery Science and Technology” as a course.
56 students in 100 and 200 Levels were part of the excursion round the PABOD Breweries Limited plants where various stages of production of Beer and Malt were shown to them by a production staff, Mr. Emmanuel Ramoni.
