The Vice Chancellor Federal University Otuoke Prof. Mobolaji Aluko on Friday 21st August 2015, led management staff of the Institution on a project monitoring exercise to ascertain the level of work at the permanent site.
The facility tour is in line with the University’s determination to ensure that contractors do not violate the contractual agreement as well as ensure they meet stipulated deadline.
The contractor handling the Central Administrative block Engr. Ugochukwu Enweren in his interaction with management assured that the project will be completed by November this year.
The Site Engineer, Previtek, Segun Akinfenwa handling the ICT block also promised to deliver the project to the University by November 2015.
The Library and Male hostel which are near completion are expected to be handed over to the University by the end of September this year.
The Vice Chancellor who spoke on the essence of the facility tour said management needs to ascertain the level of infrastructural development on campus.
Commending some contractors who have taken the projects to an appreciable level, he expressed optimism that some of the projects will be ready for use before the end of the year.
The VC however expressed dissatisfaction with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) which promised to build a 500 capacity hostel at the permanent site of the University but is yet to commence work.
Projects visited under construction include; Engineering Centre, Library, General Auditorium, Central Administrative block, ICT block, Male hostel, Sports Centre and the proposed NDDC 500-capacity hostel.
Prof. Aluko seized the opportunity to conduct the new University Bursar, Mr. Uche Agburuga round facilities at the West Campus.
