The Registrar Federal University Otuoke, Mr. David Suowari has been described as an astute administrator who has distinguished himself in his chosen career.
Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council University of Uyo, Prof. Kimse Okoko said this while chairing the launch of the book titled “The Art of Minutes Writing: Towards a Cannon” written by the Registrar Mr. David Suowari at Federal University Otuoke, Thursday 9th September 2015.
Prof. Okoko said the author is “administrator par excellence” who has proven his competency in all aspects of his career, noting that the book is a quintessential component of good administration, he maintained that good minutes writing is the hallmark of competent administration.
Eulogizing the FUO Registrar, the Pro-Chancellor said by his work, the author is leaving behind a legacy of a sound University administration.
The former Vice Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Nimi Briggs who also graced the occasion thanked Mr. David Suowari for producing the well researched scholarly work.
The Vice Chancellor, Federal University Otuoke, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko who described the Registrar as a dependable administrator said the University has benefitted immensely from Suowari‘s wealth of experience.
Prof. Aluko said the book is very critical in Nigeria’s administrative space noting that the art of good minutes writing in meeting proceedings is essential.
The book reviewer, Dr, Chris Onyema, HOD General Studies FUO said Suowari’s “Art of Minutes Writing: Towards a Cannon”, is a rigorously thought out text that focuses on the art of effective communication towards institutional building.
According to Dr. Onyema, the ten-chapter work consists an exposition on minutes, what they are, their types and uses, their pattern, mode and tenor of articulation as well as the attributes of a good minutes taker.
The “Art of Minutes Writing: Towards a Canon” is a piece that defines those characteristics to look out for in good minutes, a must read that addresses deficiencies in minutes writing while proffering remedies.
The book launch was well attended by staff of Uniport, NDU, DELSU and FUO.
Mr. David Souwari, Author of the Book has worked as Registrar in three Universities, University of Port Harcourt, Niger Delta University and Federal University Otuoke where he is serving currently.
