FUO Soccer Coach Emerges Chairman, Nigeria Football Coach Association Bayelsa State Chapter.
Staff of Federal University of Otuoke have continued to make the institution proud in their various exploits outside the University walls.
Recently, the soccer coach, FUO Mr. Teibowei Dipreye Edwards emerged as chairman, Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Bayelsa State chapter.
Mr. Edwards who joined FUO since 2013 was elected after a keenly contested election and will pilot the affairs of the association until August 2017.
Before his election the soccer coach who hails from Odi Town in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State was a former Technical Adviser of Bayelsa United FC and later Director of Football.
He acquired more coaching experiences abroad with West Ham United FC in London where he worked as a Youth/ Community Football Coach from 1999 – 2005, and also as a Foreign Technical Consultant on Youth Football Development for Estuaire FC, Douala, Cameroon.
He also played professional football during his pre-coaching days. Notable amongst clubs he featured for are shooting Stars of Ibadan 1991/1992, Calabar Rovers 1992/93, Sharks FC Port Harcourt 1993/94, Nigerian Junior National Team and Senior National Team.
Coach Edwards had also played for some professional leagues abroad which include: Terengannu FC, Malaysia, FC Berlin in Germany, Riyadh FC Saudi Arabia.
On his coaching qualifications, the FUO coach has obtained the English FA Coaching Education Certificate, the UEFA B Coaching license, UEFA A Preparatory Certificate and CAF B Coaching License.
Since his appointment as FUO Soccer Coach, Mr. Edwards revealed to FUO Media that he has assembled a Football Team capable of playing competitive football.
Coach Edwards also disclosed that FUO Soccer team will be participating in the West Africa University Games (WAUG) at the University of Nigeria Nsukka from 13th – 25th October 2016 which he said will be the team to beat.
