The National President Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, Comrade Udengs Eradiri says Federal University Otuoke needs special intervention from the Federal government.
Comrade Eradiri who said this while on a courtesy visit to its Vice Chancellor Prof. Seth Accra –Jaja said the intervention will help the young institution be on a fast lane of growth.
Noting that availability of funds to the University will boost both physical and educational development, the IYC President also stated that as a University sited at the heart of the Niger Delta, priority attention must be given to help solve the region’s peculiar problems.
Congratulating the Vice Chancellor on his appointment, Comrade Eradiri expressed confidence in the new administration assuring him of IYC’s support through-out his tenure.
He however, urged the Vice Chancellor to address what he described as perceived inequality in terms of appointments and admissions existing in the University positing that the essence of establishing the University is to serve as a spring board to help the Ijaws compete favourably with their contemporaries.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor Prof Seth Accra Jaja said his administration is anchored on equity and fair play assuring the Ijaw Youths of his determination to develop the new University. Prof Jaja who reeled out the challenges he met on ground upon assumption of duty expressed optimism to surmount them.
Commending the IYC for the visit, the VC noted that FUO will continue to partner with relevant bodies, thanking the President for the vote of confidence, reposed on him which he described as encouraging.
