The Management of Federal University Otuoke is poised to support physically challenged people, especially those living within the host communities of the University.
Vice Chancellor FUO, Prof. Seth Accra Jaja clearly demonstrated this when he announced the donation of a wheelchair to “The Association of Physically Challenged People in Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State” during a courtesy visit by the group to him in his office.
Although Prof. Seth Accra Jaja told the group that, vacancies for employment are not available at the moment within the University he promised to discuss their plight with the Governing Council and to make a special appeal to Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) seeking approval on concessionary grounds for physically challenged candidates in FUO.
The group through their leader and spokesperson Mr. Ideme K Johnson had earlier expressed the desire for them to be given employment opportunities in order to contribute their quota to the development of the institution.
The team leader thanked the Vice Chancellor for giving them audience, wishing him good exploits as Vice Chancellor.
Present during the visit were the Acting Registrar, Mr. Kenneth Sonradein, Bursar. Mr. Uche Agburuga, HOD ESDU, Dr. Sam Ebie, and Head Media and Public Relations Unit, Ms. Ekott Mercy.
Other members of the visiting group were, Mr. Albert Godknows Emmanuel, Mr. Godsave John and Miss Dumaro Oruoma.
