Challenges of improper placements, and nonpayment of accrued allowances will soon be a thing of the past for staff of Federal University Otuoke as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Seth Accra-Jaja has assured that his administration is charting out the way forward out of the miry of challenges faced by staff.
This case scenario was witnessed by staff at the senior cadre of the University as they converged on the 4th meeting of congregation February 1 2017.
The meeting chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Seth Accra-Jaja was attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Elect, Prof. Teddy Charles Adias, Acting Registrar – Mr Kenneth Sorandein, Librarian, - Mr Hundron Kari, Deans, Hods, Hous and Directors.
The turnout for the meeting was huge as the University Auditorium, Skills Acquisition Centre, venue of the meeting was filled to capacity.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Seth Accra-Jaja responded to questions and comments presented by three union chairmen and some members of congregation promising that his administration will not relax on its oars in addressing issues presented at the forum.
Speakers were the Branch Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) Dr. Joseph Umoro, chapter chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) Comrade Joseph Kalizibe and chapter chairman National Association of Academic Technologists (NAATS) Comrade Ama Uduma Egeonu.
They raised salient points on peculiar issues affecting their union members, from hazard allowance, limited office spaces, payment of relocation allowance, provision of a reliable transport system etc.
Other speakers at the 4th meeting of congregation were the DVC, Prof. Teddy Charles Adias the Ag. Registrar, Mr Kenneth Sorandein, and 2 governing council members representing congregation, Rev Dr. Bruno Ikuli and Mrs Tariere Dapibi.
They enlightened the forum of activities of the governing council, their meetings, deliberations and resolutions. The meeting ended with staff having a positive outlook on improved work conditions.
