Brief History of the Department
The Petroleum & Gas Engineering Engineering was among the approved programmes, which was hosted in the Department of Chemical, Petroleum & Gas Engineering with Engr ErewariUkohua as the pioneer Coordinator. In the 2019/2020 academic session, the administration of Petroleum & Gas Engineering programme was separated from the Department of Chemical, Petroleum & Gas Engineering and now administered in its own department – Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering with Engr Prof. Adewale Dosunmu as the Head of Department. The Department currently has a total of ten (10) core petroleum engineering academic staff, (4) technical staff, and four (3) administrative staff. The core petroleum engineering academic staff comprises of two (2) Professors (made up of 1 contract, and 1 adjunct), one (1) Reader on adjunct, four (3) Lecturer I, three (2) Lecturer II and one (1) Assistant Lecturer.
Also, the Department presently has a total of two hundred and forty-one (241) students that comprises of seventy-four (74) seventy-six (76) and ninety-one (91) students in 200 level, 300 level and 400 level, respectively. The Department presently uses its own laboratory and Faculty workshop facilities for the training of its student.
