Brief History of the Department
The Department of Human Anatomy at Federal University Otuoke (FUO) was established in the year 2023 with Dr. Eni-yimini Solomon Agoro as a coordinator. The pioneer tenure staff resume with the appointment of Dr. O.A. Udi as acting Head of Department. The department was founded with the vision of becoming a leading centre for teaching, research, and service in Human Anatomy. Its mission is to:
- Provide high-quality anatomical education to Basic Medical, Clinical and Allied Health Sciences.
- Conduct innovative research in Human Anatomy and related fields.
- Engage in community outreach and service activities to promote anatomical knowledge.
The department offers undergraduate program in Human Anatomy. The undergraduate program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the structure and function of the human body.
The department is staffed by a team of experienced and dedicated tenure members who are experts in their respective specialties. The tenure members are actively involved in teaching, research, and mentorship of students. The department is equipped with modern facilities including Gross Anatomy dissection laboratory, Histology laboratory, Embryology laboratory, Neuroanatomy laboratory, Clinical anatomy laboratory and Research laboratory. The Human Anatomy Department at FUO is poised for continued growth and development. The department plans to expand its research activities, enhance its teaching facilities, and establish new collaborations to further its mission of excellence in anatomical education, research, and service.
