Brief History of the Department
The department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology/Immunology commenced on the first day of November 2023 as one of the four pioneer departments of the then newly established Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, with the appointment of Dr Chidi L.C. Ndukwu as the pioneer acting head. It is a composite department housing several broad areas of Medical Laboratory Science namely, medical bacteriology, mycology, virology, parasitology/entomology, and immunology.
The department is endowed with a crop of committed, dedicated, and motivated staff with rich and diverse industry and academic experiences and poised to moulding medical laboratory scientists of the future who will excel in the practice of the profession, in the public and private sectors, locally and anywhere in the globe.
