The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Association of Health Records and Information Management Practitioners of Nigeria (AHRIMPN) has conferred a Leadership and Service Award on the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Otuoke (FUO), Professor Teddy Charles Adias. The award presentation took place during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
While presenting the award, Comrade Dogiye E. Lucky, Chairman of AHRIMPN Bayelsa Chapter, lauded Professor Adias for his exceptional contributions to capacity building, innovation and his unwavering commitment to societal growth and development. He described the honour as a recognition of the Vice-Chancellor’s pivotal role in supporting and collaborating on initiatives that advance the profession and the broader community.
Comrade Lucky also took the opportunity to revisit discussions from previous engagements with the Association, emphasizing the importance of collaborations that would further the profession’s goals. He extended a formal request to Professor Adias to serve as the Keynote Speaker at the Association’s forthcoming Annual Week scheduled for 11th -12th December, 2024.
In his response, Professor Adias expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering partnerships with AHRIMPN. He announced plans to establish Health Information degree programmes in two Faculties of the university, contingent on the Association’s ability to provide qualified Manpower to support the initiative.
The Vice-Chancellor also accepted the invitation to deliver the keynote address at AHRIMPN’s Annual Week, promising to further engage with the Association to promote the growth of the profession.
Furthermore, he offered insightful guidance to the AHRIMPN leadership, outlining strategies for members to enhance their individual careers while elevating the Association’s overall impact and productivity.
