Dr. Christopher Ononiwu ELEMUWA



Dr. Chris Ononiwu Elemuwa is a distinguished professional in Medical Microbiology. His academic journey began at the University of Lagos, where he specialized in Medical Microbiology. He furthered his education with a Master’s in Immunology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University and another Master’s in Virology from the University of Ibadan. Additionally, he holds a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology from Ambrose Ali University, focusing on E. coli O157: H7 infections. His career includes specialized training, such as a Fellowship in Immunology and diplomas in Health Planning & Management. He is a Fellow of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria in Haematology and Blood Group Serology. Currently, he lectures at the Department of Medical Microbiology, Parasitology and Immunology, Faculty of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He was at the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency(NPHCDA), including Zonal Director for the South-South region, Acting Director of the Department of Community Health Services and Deputy Director and Head of the Laboratories and Surveillance Division, NPHCDA. Dr. Elemuwa’s research interests span laboratory techniques, disease surveillance, biostatistics, epidemiology, systems strengthening, and global health. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. His work on infectious diseases, vaccine safety, and healthcare delivery has garnered national and international recognition.
