Digha Opaminola Nicholas is professional known for his significant contributions to education, environmental management, and sustainable development. With a strong background in both academia and practical fieldwork, Opaminola has established himself as a leader in his field, participating in numerous conferences and seminars across Nigeria. His commitment to lifelong learning and professional development is evident through his involvement in workshops and conferences addressing hydrology and water resourses, environmental impact assessment,erosion and shore protection, agriculture, water quality, rural development, and sustainability. Opaminola’s academic journey began at State School Otuoke Ogbia and continued through Mater Dei High School Imiringi and Community Secondary School Onuebum. He earned a B.Sc. (Ed) in Geography from the University of Port-Harcourt in 1992, a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Education from the University of Calabar in 2002, an M.Sc. in Geography and Planning specializing in Environmental Management from Abia State University Uturu in 2008, and a Ph.D. in Geography and Planning, focusing on Hydrology and Water Resources, from Abia State University in 2021. In his career, Opaminola has held key academic positions, including Graduate Assistant at the Niger State College of Education, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Geography at the Bayelsa State College of Education, Okpoama, and Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Isaac Jasper Boro College of Education, Sagbama. As Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Ogbia L.G.A Basic Education Authority, he enhanced basic education standards. Opaminola’s participation in pivotal conferences, such as the World Food Day and Farmer’s Festival and the Water Quality Control Training Workshop, highlights his early and ongoing involvement in agricultural development and environmental sustainability. He is an active member of professional associations, including the Nigerian Environmental Society, the Association of Nigerian Geographers, and the American Society of Safety Engineers.

RESEARCH INTEREST

Hydrology, water resources management, environmental impact assessment, and remote sensing and GIS. Nicholas has published extensively in journals such as the Journal of Asian Scientific Research and the International Journal of Geology Research, addressing environmental impacts, pollution control, and socio-economic changes, making him a respected figure in his field.
