DR. EDNA ADAGOGO-BROWN

BRIEF PROFILE

Dame Edna Adagogo-Brown holds a Ph.D in Social and Political History of Africa from the University of Port Harcourt in 2018. She an Author of three (3) books and many articles in both local and international journals, including chapters to important books. She was a member of the Opobo Research Team, led by eminent Professor Emeritus E. J. Alagoa, Research Assistant to Professor S. J. S. Cookey, Member Opobo Sesquicentenary Committee to mark One-Hundred and Fifty Years of Opobo Kingdom. She is a member of the Historical Society of Nigeria where she served as Treasurer of the University of Port Harcourt Branch of the Society. She was the Returning Officer for Nembe Local Government in the 2019 Presidential Elections, conducted by INEC, and a Collation Officer, Ward 1 & 2, of Brass LGA of Bayelsa State in 2023 conducted by INEC. A member of Anglican Communion and a Knight of Blessed Virgin Mary. She is now an Associate Professor in the Department of History and International Studies, Faculty of Humanities, at the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State. Mrs Edna Adagogo-Brown was a Chief Lecturer at the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt, where she served as the Head of Department of Humanities, Department of Arts & Law, and Department of Arts, at different times. She has published widely in international and national journals. She was a member of the team of Shell-sponsored research project on Bonny in Transition managed by Colberg Associates, Port Harcourt. She and Alabo Prof. S J. S. Cookey co-authored, Monarchy in the Niger Delta. She holds the traditional title of Ibiyingi of Opobo Kingdom. Dr. Edna Adagogo-Brown is happily married to Amaopusenibo Adagogo Brown, Ph.D, KSC and they are blessed with three children.
