Dr. Lasisi Raimi

Dr. Lasisi Raimi is a distinguished sociologist with a strong academic background and a profound commitment to environmental sustainability and development. He holds a B.Sc in Sociology, an M.Sc and a Ph.D. in Sociology of Development, all earned from the prestigious University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Dr. Lasisi’s career has been marked by a rich tapestry of experiences, primarily in the non-governmental sector and later transitioning to a pivotal role within the corporate world. He has been a prominent contributor to several NGOs, actively participating in various research initiatives in Nigeria. His career took an exciting turn when he joined the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, where he started off as a Partnerships and Collaboration Research Intern. In 2011, Dr. Raimi assumed the role of Sustainable Development Support and Education Team Lead within the same organization. During this period, he excelled in roles ranging from brokering business partnerships, developing comprehensive business proposals, crafting country-level social investment strategies, and management of social investment programmes such as corporate scholarships. In 2014, he embarked on a new chapter in his career when he joined the Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, as a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and later became the Head of the Department from 2016 to 2021. Currently, Dr. Lasisi is a Senior Lecturer and serves as the Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) at the Federal University Otuoke. His role as the EDC Director underscores his commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among students and the broader community. Dr. Lasisi’s career journey is a testament to his unwavering dedication to sustainable development, innovative leadership, and progressive social investment.
