Dr. Timothy E. Onyejelem
BRIEF PROFIILE
Dr. Timothy Ekeledirichukwu Onyejelem popular known as (TENO) is a lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Mass Communication from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, Anambra State; an MSc. and a BSc. in Mass Communication, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. He also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the National Open University of Nigeria. Dr Timothy holds a Professional Diploma in Advertising (PDA) from the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) now Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON). Timothy is a certified member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
Dr. Timothy Ekekedirichukwu Onyejelem is a UNICEF research grant awardee for his PhD Thesis on “Promoting Child’s Rights through Nollywood …” He is also a Child Rights Activist, a Digital photojournalist, a Nollywood film editor & cinematographer, and the founder of TENO DIGITAL STUDIOS LTD; a leading photography studio based in Onitsha, Anambra State, where he has trained over 1000 youths in the art of photography and film production before he joined the academia in 2016.
Timothy has worked as a film editor at the Nigerian Television Authority NTA Channel 35 Onitsha. Dr TENO has participated in several professional digital skill enhancement programmes across the country and beyond in his quest for professionalism, which would reposition him for practical and technical knowledge transfer to the younger generation in the unbundled Mass Communication programme in Nigerian universities.
Timothy is a member of over ten Professional and regulatory bodies including the International Communication Association (ICA), Africa Council for Communication Education (ACCE), Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Association of Media and Communication Researchers of Nigeria (AMCRON) where he is currently the Assistant National Secretary. He is also a member of Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Professional Photographers Association of Nigeria (PPAN) among others.
Timothy is a communication scholar with specialization in film and multi-media studies, photojournalism, child right reporting, and digital media. Dr Timothy has published in reputable international and national peer-reviewed academic journals. Timothy is well known for attending conferences, workshops and seminars.
He has also participated and presented numerous papers in several conferences and workshops on communication, Artificial Intelligence, and professional digital skill enhancement programmes across the country and beyond.
Timothy is the author of “E-book Creation and Publishing: A Practical Guide to Digital Learning and Earning” published by Amazon.com in 2021. He is also a poet.
Dr Timothy is a marriage counsellor with specialty in natural family planning. He teaches Marriage Course – Billings Method (pro bono publico) at St Charles Borromeo Catholic, Onitsha, Anambra State, as part of development service to his local community.
TENO Digital as he is fondly called is a professional photographer; film editor/producer; media consultant; social media analyst; and very good at writing radio news commentaries on civic issues for radio stations.
