Dr Ebikefe Tarilaemi Omu, a Consultant Family Physician, was born on the 9th of October 1960 at Ondubiri quarters in Tungbo Town, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
He obtained the Bachelor of Medical science degree in Anatomy in 1985, the MBBS degree in 1989 and Fellowship of the National Post graduate Medical College of Nigeria in Family Medicine in 2011. He owns certificates in Basic Life and Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Post graduate diploma in Theology and in Missiology. He is also a certified International Project Management Director. He worked in the Bayelsa State Government Hospitals Management Board and rose from a Senior Medical Officer to Chief Medical Officer. He has attended over 70 Conferences both local and international. He is a member of NMA, MDCAN, AGPMPN, SOFPON, NADUHS and WONCA. He is a Patron of Boys Brigade and Red Cross Society of Nigeria and a Chaplain Officer. He was the former Director of Health Services of the Niger Delta University from 2011 to 2018. He is the recipient of the following awards: Distinguished Medical Practitioner (DMP) of the Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN) 2018, Certificate of Merit, Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON) 2016/17, Fellow Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON) 2016, Certified Project Director, International Project Management Professionals (IPMP) 2015, Fellow, Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN) 2013, Fellow, Institute of Industrial Administration 2008, Fellow Strategic Institute of Natural Resources and Human Development 2004. He is also a Justice of Peace.
