Prof. Apuega R. Arikawei

Professor Apuega R. Arikawei holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Adult Education with Specialization in Community Development and Social Welfare. He is of the Department of Arts Education, Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State. Professor Apuega has considerable experience and has served in various committees in the university including Departmental and Faculty Examinations Officer, Co-ordinator of Adult Education Unit in the Department of Educational Foundations, Member, NUC Accreditation Committee, Member, Senate Representative of the Faculty of Education, Member, Programme Development for the creation of the Department of Adult Education and Community Development at the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt and Co-ordinator of Postgraduate Programmes in the Department of Educational Foundations , Niger Delta University. He has supervised several postgraduate students both at the Masters and Ph.D level. He has also served as a Member of the Governing Council of the College of Health Technology, Otuogidi-Ogbia Town.

Professor Apuega belongs to several Professional bodies including the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Nigerian National Council for Adult Education (NNCAE), National Association of Social Workers and International Association of Community Development, United Kingdom. Professor Apuega has over fifty publications in both local and foreign journals which can be accessed on Google Scholar. He has carried out Consultancy in Human Capacity Building with UNICEF, UNESCO and the World Bank on Adult Literacy and Community facilitation, Livelihood Support and extension services for the informal Sector of the economy. His research interests and prospects are in the areas of Inclusive Education of the Vulnerable, Gerontology and Gender Studies, Niger Delta Studies and Praxis of Community Development for future service delivery both locally and internationally
