The 2023/2024 edition of the Vice Chancellor’s Cup, an Inter-Faculty football tournament also known as the ‘VC’s Cup’ sponsored by the Student Union Government (SUG) in conjunction with the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Teddy Charles Adias, witnessed its Grand finale on the 2nd of February, 2024 at the Mini-sports arena, East Campus, Federal University Otuoke.

The female soccer team of the Faculty of Science defeated their counterpart in the Faculty of Management Sciences with 3-1 in a penalty shootout at the end of a goalless full-time to clinch the cup.

In a similar development, the Department of Biochemistry in the Faculty of Science defeated the Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Humanities 1-0 to emerge the winners of the male category of the VC’s Cup.

 

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Teddy Charles Adias while presenting the trophies to the Faculty of Science and the Department of Political Science congratulated the winners for their show of courage, exhibition of fair play, and sportsmanship. He also praised the Student Union Government (SUG) for organizing the tournament and encouraged the students to continue to strive to be the best they can be both in their academic pursuits and in the domain of sports.

Dignitaries that witnessed the Grand finale of the VC’s Cup include the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Chris Onyema, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. (Mrs) Bodisere Juliet Tebowei, the Sub-Dean Student Affairs, SA VC, Mrs Andabi Amangi-Edomo, Head of Sports Unit, Ebioboere Hellen Wokoro, the Public Relations Officer, Ms Mercy Ekott, and the current EXCO of the SUG.
